FCM - Foundations for Counseling Ministry

Reconciliation, Restoration, Relationship

The Foundations for Counseling Ministry (FCM) is a 6-month course for DTS graduates looking to see transformational counseling principles applied to the lives of individuals and communities throughout the world.

Lecture Phase: The goal of the FCM is to give participants basic counseling skills and models. Topics include: Sexuality/Abuse & Justice Issues, Cross-Cultural Counseling, The Divine Plumbline, Family Dysfunction, Identity, Self Esteem/Reconciliation, Addictions, HIV/AIDS Counseling, Death & Grief, Renewing the Mind, Stress & Depression.

Outreach Phase: Students will travel in teams and apply what was learned during lecture phase in a cross-cultural setting. It provides time to practice the counseling skills, and the opportunity to minister to people in real-life situations, meeting them where the need exists.

We have a unique opportunity for students from the FCM to go to Haiti on outreach, which has been impacted by the recent earthquake. By June, 2010, there will be doors open for those who can help individuals who need psychological and emotional First Aid, Crisis and Disaster Stress Management and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Where there are disasters, war, crime, and tragedy, the Body of Christ needs to respond.

The Foundations for Counseling Ministry course will help provide unique training for 2nd responders in the areas above, and other crucial areas, such as Cross-Cultural Counseling, Anger Management, Death and Grief, Justice Issues, Family Dysfunction and other topics crippling many who have lived through the earthquake.

If you would like to hone your skills, be able to listen to those coming out of shock, and get down to the basics of life with trauma victims, please join us in April for the FCM!

Lecture Phase:
$3,195 USD (April FCM: If lecture fees paid by March 1st, $100 discount.)
Outreach Phase: $1,895 USD grounds fees + Airfare
